Come be a part of Bell By Bell at LACMA's The Art Parade! LACMA is opening the David Geffen Galleries and having a massive opening event to celebrate. The day will culminate in The Art Parade with over 100 art projects waltzing down Wilshire, presented in partnership with Jeffrey Deitch.
Bell By Bell is a lively and atmospheric musical parade that uses children’s handbells and flag conductors to create a unique sonic experience for both bell ringers and audience alike!
We will distribute color-coded handbells to the crowd, one color per note, 1-2 bells per person. At the front of the parade, a team of conductors will wave corresponding colored flags to lead the group in slowly moving music: for example, when the conductors raise their red and green flags, everyone with red and green bells start ringing, and so on for each color, creating a sonorous soundscape through the streets as we walk.
No prior rehearsal or musical training is required, just some quick instruction from the project leaders before the parade sets out, making it especially great for kids and families.
Also plan on wearing colorful clothes to match the colorful vibes of the bell and flags!
