Phool Maya invites you to our next Adda (hangout)! For many of us in the South Asian diaspora, practices like yoga and tea carry memories of home, family, care, and everyday life. Yet these traditions are often presented through wellness culture in ways that disconnect them from the communities, histories, and knowledge systems they come from. This Adda is an invitation to reconnect. Let us reconnect with yoga and tea in our own ways as cultural practices rooted in care, community, and belonging. The morning will begin with an inclusive movement, breathwork, and sound meditation session led by Sanskriti, an adaptive yoga teacher, meditation facilitator, filmmaker, and disability rights advocate. Drawing from her lived experience with disability, Sanskriti creates accessible somatic practices that invite us to listen to our bodies with curiosity, compassion, and care. After a short break, we’ll gather for a tea tasting of hand-rolled tea, otherwise known as “hathe-chiya”with mahima, exploring the stories, histories, and relationships behind the teas we share. We’ll close the gathering over tea, snacks, and conversation, leaving plenty of time to meet new people and simply be together. Whether yoga is already part of your life or this is your first time stepping onto a mat, whether you’re a lifelong tea drinker or simply curious, you’re warmly welcome. P.S. If you have one, please bring your own yoga mat. A limited number of mats will also be available.
