From the colorful educational magic bus that defined a TV decade… to the real life unicorn bus and educational platform in NYC defining a new culture of ::magic::…. Glinda invites you to wet your gills for iconic Mermaid Parade thrills. Hop on the ::magic:: bus! It’s OF FISH
Ms Frizzle told us to Take chances, make mistakes and get messy! 🎨
At this 2024 Mermaid Moment we add: Take dances, make mystiques, get dressy 👗
Dress-up Ideas:
Mermaid from Outer Space
New Mermaids on the Skool Block
90s School Kid (could be a specific character from the show or made up)
Underwater Creature in the Classroom

Glinda will have extra sea creature masks, wigs, and other costumes and accessories available. We’ll have face paint and sparkles to razzle dazzle frizzle up your look! Come as prepared as you can - beachy and 90s colorful as a base. If you need some last minute outfit help and shimmer, we gotchya!
Feel free to bring extra on theme decor that you might have, or some thing cute and Frizzly to hang on the bus for the parade, or related gifts to bribe the judges!
You may keep a small bag inside the bus for the parade.
During the parade you will be either -
- parading/swimming around the bus interacting with the crowd
- riding inside poking your head out / waving out out a window, Magic School Bus style
- Or riding on the roof!
We’ll be assigning your area of focus day-of based on your costume and preference, and there can be switch offs.

Transportation Options:
9am - Meet in Bushwick for the magic school bus ride to the beach: Meet at The Buren (1223 Broadway) to catch the adventure to Coney
11:30am - Meet in Coney Island at lineup by Surf Ave and 21st St - will update with exact location when on premises.
The Mermaid Parade begins at 1pm!
There are afterparties aplenty on the beach. Glinda does not have an exact departure time but you may opt for a ride back the day of if it aligns.
Contribution:
Glinda is joining the Mermaid Parade as a community educational project.
We are keeping costs low for paraders to join the fun - Contributions of any sum are welcome as we call forth from the seas a new ::magical:: paradigm!
