Kikay in Kweens: Karaoke for Farmers in the PH π€π
Join us for a night of karaoke and community as we stand with farmers and human rights defenders in the Philippines. On April 19-20th, 19 individuals were massacred due to indiscriminate strafings by the AFP in Toboso, Negros Occidental. Community journalists, student leaders, and peasant organizers were among those killed. We uplift the names of Kai Sorem & Lyle Prijoles - two Filipino-Americans who served overseas Filipino and migrant communities, and continued to serve the most exploited and oppressed in the Philippines.
Negros Accidental is rich in resources but many farmers continue to face landlessness, poverty wages, and unsafe working conditions. As LGBTQ+ Filipinos in the diaspora we join the calls our kababayan around the world to stand in solidarity with the people of Negros.
We kindly ask that Kikay Karaoke attendees consider a $5-10 donation at the door. Funds raised will go to @saka__ph who supports rapid response efforts and fact-finding missions on the ground.
