We'll be viewing "Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy" on Netflix, following by a conversation to share reflexions on the documentary, and an item swap!
6:30pm: arrival & setting up
7pm: film start
8:30pm: conversation & item swap around a warm cup of tea!
10pm: end
About the "item swap":
Given the theme of the day which I translate as "we own too much stuff", I wanted to suggest an item swap!
Concept is simple:
- Bring 1-3 items that you already own (do NOT purchase anything for this!)
- Items need to work and be in good condition
- They need to be either useful or bring joy
- They need to be adapted to a diversity of people (e.g. avoid clothing which depend on people's size)
- You need to be ready to part with them if someone else in the group wants them ; but also be ready to bring them back home if you haven't found a happy new owner
- No constraint on value of the item
- If you have a story to tell on how you acquired the item, even better!
Quick test: can you imagine a close friend walking into your space and saying "oh I love this item, I've been looking for something like this!" and you "I'll happily to give it to you" -> then, this is a perfect candidate!

- There is no obligation to play this game, it's simply an invitation
- Feel free to post here before the event your ideas / thoughts / things you'd like to bring or would hope someone else brings!
- PS: I've committed to not purchasing any new physical items in 2026 (or rather, have listed very strict rules for myself to make it only a "strong strong needs basis")... anyone want to join? ;)
