Hey Austin Familia, We are so grateful and lucky to have paje Txana Tuwe from the Huni Kuin of the Brazilian Amazon here with us. He is a spiritual leader, healer, professor and guardian of ancestral wisdom. As part of our 2 weekend tour in Austin, we will be hosting a special offering called the Hãpaya Baptism. The Hãpaya is a traditional Huni Kuin baptism that is performed to help open one’s voice, improve memory, and learn new skills. Through a hot pepper infusion on the tongue and prayer, the baptism channels the innate power of the Txaná bird, from the Amazon. The Txaná bird is one of the most intelligent of the rainforest, and can imitate any sound they’d like, even that of a human. By participating in the baptism, the spirit of the Txaná bird is placed inside of one’s body, and gives the person receiving the baptism the same skills and power to remember, imitate, and master new talents. This is followed by a 3 day diet. After the baptism, Txaná Tuwe will teach a traditional Huni Kuin prayer.
