Arlethe Rios was born in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico in 1984. She immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1989. She graduated from Douglas High School in 2002 and joined the Army as a medic. After a deployment to Iraq and five years of service, which included an overseas assignment in Germany, she returned home to Arizona.
In 2005, Arlethe had the honor of completing the process for naturalization and becoming a US Citizen. Since 2008, Arlethe has worked for many organizations in public service and in 2013 she was appointed as Clerk of the Board in Cochise County, being the youngest person to serve in that capacity in the State of Arizona and the only Mexican woman to ever serve in that position. She is currently working for Senator Mark Kelly as the Veterans Outreach Manager.
Arlethe has a passion for public service because she wants to give back to the country that has given her so many opportunities. She volunteered and was appointed by Governor Ducey to serve on the Arizona Veterans Advisory Commission from 2015-2021 and served as the Military Liaison for the Arizona Complete County Committee in the 2020 Census.
Arlethe holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Arlethe has published a collection of poems in her book, “Palabras Escondidas” and hosted the “Alpha Romeo Podcast” in 2021 to share her journey and hopefully help others get through theirs.
Arlethe lives in Vail with her two children: Alessandro and Olivia. She enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and traveling.
