Join us for the second of three work-in-progress screenings of Quem Tece o Cobertor do Mundo (Who Weaves the Blanket of the World), a debut documentary by Anne Galvão.
Anne began working on this film in 2020 in Brazil, shaped by years of reflection and a deep connection to her roots. In 2025, she moved from São Paulo to New York City with a clear purpose: to finish the project and find a space to share it with the world.
A true labor of love, Anne filmed, directed, edited, and produced the entire documentary on her own. The result is a poetic and deeply personal journey that weaves together themes of women’s memory, migration, decolonization, lesbian identity, and childhood sexual abuse. Through it all, she carries a message from her ancestors in Bahia to the world to come.
· Screening Date: August 10, 2pm
· Film duration: ~75 minutes
· Language: Portuguese (English subtitles)
· Post-screening conversation: ~40 minutes
This project was entirely self-funded by Anne. Optional donations of $5–$20 are encouraged to support her continued work and can be made in cash at the door or via Venmo to @lwoodzz, which will go directly to the filmmaker.
Come witness the unfolding of this intimate and heartfelt story, and take part in a conversation with the filmmaker afterward. Feel free to bring friends and loved ones.
