Please join us for the opening reception of Nancy Burson's solo show at Heft, titled "Light Matter" – a presentation of 14 new Quantum Entanglement Paintings, a marquis assembly of her pivotal composite portraits from the '80s and '90s, and never before seen photon video works.
The gallery will also host a very special ongoing experience with Burson's Mother Mary and the Quantum Spheres sculpture – serving as a conduit for audiences to see and experience the movement of particle physics in the darkness around them. Entry to this performance will be available in ten minute increments at the reception and throughout the course of the exhibition.
Heft is honored to present Light Matter, the first ever exhibition of Burson's Quantum Entanglement Paintings. They are essential extension of her lifelong practice creating art that embodies the universal connectivity that we all share, and will be shown in the context of her early software-based portraiture that is found in the permanent collections of MoMA, The Whitney, The Met, LACMA, SFMOMA, V&A, Centre Pompidou, and more.
Join us from 5-8pm on Saturday March 21st to celebrate the opening of the exhibition and start of Spring!
