On Saturday May 24th, we'll be trekking through the gardens and groves of Forest Hills, winding through Forest Park, then ultimately making our way to Bushwick for games, music, and my favorite late night hole-in-the-wall eatery. Here's my Google Maps list of the places we'll pass by: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hec3VDa6HgvJrpa96 FYI this is a 10+ hour stroll spanning 10+ miles, and you are free to join us at *any* point along the way 🙌 All RSVP'd "yes" and "maybe" attendees will receive a link at 10am to my realtime location for the entire hike, along with my phone number, so you can see exactly where we are on google maps and text me when you plan to join so we can keep an eye out for ya 🤗 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🌿 About Hyggehiking 🌿 Hygge means "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being." "Hyggehiking" is my own special blend, where we engage in that conviviality while trekking through green spaces throughout our city. I host Hygge gatherings so we can come together to make new friends, discuss fun projects we're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. We bring our friends, family, coworkers, anyone we think would enjoy spending the day alongside a variety of curious souls. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🗺️ ITINERARY 🗺️ 10am-10:30am — Forest Cafe ✨ Plant-filled coffee shop with homemade croffles. 10:30am-2:30pm — Forest Hills Stadium, Forest Hills Gardens, Austin Street, Station Square ✨ The Forest Hills neighborhood design was inspired by Tudor gardens. Paul Simon attended Forest Hills High School and played at the Forest Hills Stadium, as did the Beatles and Elton John. Austin Street is the main food corridor — we’ll snag lunch there after touring the gardens, and eat in Station Square (where scenes from Spiderman 2 were filmed). 2:30pm-6:30pm — Forest Park, Strack Memorial Park, Highland Park ✨ Forest Park is a hilly 500+ acre public park with winding trails and watering holes. Strack Memorial Park and Highland Park each have their own ponds and reservoirs that attract migratory birds! 6:30pm-10pm — Cuts & Slices, Wonderville, El Regalo de Juquila ✨ We’ll stop by Cuts & Slices to sample their creative pizza toppings, then make our way to Wonderville, a bar full of custom-built arcade games, live music, and a back patio, where we’ll hang out for extended conversation. Just a few blocks away, El Regalo de Juquila has tacos and unbeatable birria quesadillas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🎒WHAT TO BRING🎒 • comfy walking shoes • sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sleeves) • cash • friends 🥰 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 👋🏼ABOUT YOUR HOST👋🏼 I'm Steve Dean, admirer of nature, denizen of the internet, steward of social and technological ecologies, dating industry consultant, and relationship coach.
