We’re creating a space where people can spend a few hours being authentically loved and giving love. Creating a space that is warm and community is brought together. So many different talents and cravings all put into one table, everyone hoping for a chance to spin the turntable.
Food culture is centered around how people eat. How food is shared. Social eating takes place in so many different BIPOC cultures where community and family are at the forefront. Being able to share food with those that you love is not a luxury, but a standard of practice. This is meant to be a table that is created so that everyone has a seat and a plate.
Think dinner tables that are too full with dishes meant to be shared, think plates being passed around, think too many chopsticks for the amount of people sitting. Hear the loud chatter of people gathered together, listen to the conversations of the people next to you, feel the warmth of bodies sitting too close together.
The first dinner is to honor Jonathan. Everything after is to honor the vision he had.
The first dinner is meant to showcase the barebones roots. Basic Vietnamese-inspired menu, mainly shareables and eaten family-style.
“Tell me what you eat, and I’ll tell you who you are.” – Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin
