the inspiration:
as we all know, new york lacks third spaces, especially so for brown people. in a city with so many of us, it still feels hard to find a space for us to freely exist as a community. this year, my goal has been to find/create this community...
aangan art house is my attempt to build a creative space where south asians can come together - create, vibe, drink chai, and unapologetically blast bollywood music.
the name aangan is traditionally the courtyard at the center of homes in south asia. I want to recreate the same energy of aangan here in my tiny nyc living room. I hope it's a space where you can create and meet others, but, ultimately, just a space to exist.
