Nomi and Zilu are hosting this watch party of Daniel Weintraub's Pauline Oliveros documentary together with excitement, respect, and love for Pauline. Dr. Nomi Epstein (she/her) is a composer, curator, and certified Deep Listening® Practitioner. More about Nomi: https://nomiepstein.com/ Zilu Wang (she/her) is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), an improviser, and a community organizer. More about Zilu: https://www.instagram.com/ziluwang_june/ Zilu was Nomi's student at Berklee College of Music in the class of "Sounding Pauline Oliveros". We read her essays, practiced deep listening exercises, and embodied three modalities of it (sound, movement, and dream). It was a powerful and fruitful experience to connect with sounds in a refreshing and deep way, a whole-body and all-awareness way. We would love to invite you to join us for this experience by watching her documentary. Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016) "Her life as a composer, performer and humanitarian was about opening her own and others' sensibilities to the universe and facets of sounds. Her career spanned fifty years of boundary dissolving music making. In the '50s she was part of a circle of iconoclastic composers, artists, poets gathered together in San Francisco. In the 1960's she influenced American music profoundly through her work with improvisation, meditation, electronic music, myth and ritual."
