Fork🖕🏿Famine
We're back for the second edition of Fork Famine.
For this experience, we’ll trace the routes of migration through the flavors of the Niger River Basin to the far coasts of the Americas; a voyage across oceans, prairies, hills, and valleys told through food and prose.
💝 Proceeds from the meal will go toward supporting Edesia Inc. and Mana, two organizations committed to fighting malnutrition by producing and distributing Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).
🍎What is RUTF?
Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food is a nutrient-dense blend designed to treat severe acute malnutrition and restore a child’s weight, strength, and overall health.

🙏🏿 Zee Carlstrom and Briley Esinaape will be joining us to share excerpts from their debut novels .
🧬Zee Carlstrom grew up in Illinois. They live in Brooklyn, but their heart remains in the Midwest. Zee was the 2024 Phillip Roth Writer in Residence at Bucknell University. Their debut novel, MAKE SURE YOU DIE SCREAMING, was named One of Goodreads’ ‘Hottest Debut Novels of 2025’, One of ELLE’s ‘Best Queer Books of 2025’, and ‘A Most Anticipated Book of 2025’ for Them, Debutiful, and The Mary Sue. Zee strongly believes in Frederick Douglass’ vision of America as a composite nation, where every human person can come together to live in harmony.
🏇Briley Esinaape (he/him) will also be joining us for a reading accompanied by an original soundscape from his upcoming novel Whiteface. Briley is a writer, artist, and musician from the Comanche Nation. Formerly the editor of Cola Literary Review, his work has appeared in The Broadkill Review, the Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center, and the Institute of American Indian Arts. He is a direct descendant of Quanah Parker, last chief of the Comanches, and Cynthia Ann Parker, whose captivity inspired the 1956 film The Searchers. Whiteface is the opening volume of a never-ending novel that will be completed the day he dies.
