Burnt: Survive the Fires of Fundraising Generally speaking... things are better not burnt: toast, popcorn, people. If you’ve built something from nothing, you’ve felt the heat. The pressure to raise, to grow, to win the game of company-building before you even know the rules. Some say startups are simply a war of attrition. And if you’ve been at it long enough, chances are—you’ve been burned. Burnt is an afternoon for founders who’ve been through it. We’re ditching the polish and making space for the stories that usually stay buried- when the pitch doesn't go as planned, the runway evaporates, or the dream nearly goes up in flames. Our hope for this event is for founders to both laugh and taste a bit of relief while being in the company of other founders who have experienced seasons of burnout and were resilient through it. This invite-only experience, capped at 50 founders, is part of New York Tech Week and will feature: 🔥 Overcooked Pitch – a satirical spin on pitching under pressure 🔥 Runway Rorschach – see different fundraising scenarios 🔥 Burn Bonfire – say goodbye to what needs letting go 🔥 The Booth – record and share your story (perhaps a time you've been burned, or advice you'd give your younger self) *anonymous or bold This isn’t therapy. But it might be the most honest founder event you’ve ever been to. Because fire doesn’t just destroy—it refines.
