Got some time in your afternoon for a creative break? Pop into MFA and make a zine with us!
As we live in the midst of censorship and the silencing of marginalized communities on the rise, there is no better time than now to share our voices than through a good ol' zine.
What's a zine, you ask? It's a self-published, DIY booklet that has become a peer-driven way to express beliefs and push toward resistance creatively. Zines have been around for centuries, even tracing back to the 1440s with guides on how to practice witchcraft! In short, zines play a huge role in distributing information and documenting significant times in history that would otherwise not be covered by larger media publications.
With zine making, there are no rules and that's the beauty of it! Anyone is allowed to create their own zine and make copies to share with friends or sell to their community. Our voices as spiritual baddies matter! This event is for everyone interested in tapping into their creativity and self-expression without shame or judgement.
In this pop in event, you'll get to create your own zine that reflects your spiritual practice. Want to write a step-by-step breakdown of your favorite ritual? Maybe pay homage to a deity or goddess through words or imagery? Or even tell a story of how you developed your spirituality? The possibilities are endless when it comes to zine making!
Stop by MFA anytime between 3-7pm to make your zine. We'll provide all the materials (paper, magazines to cut from, glue, writing material, stickers). All you have to bring is an openness to express yourself freely!
You'll have the option to donate your final zine to Mystic Flora's tea lounge library so our community can relish in the sharing of your spiritual gifts.
