What better way to celebrate Latine Heritage Month and spooky season than with a Latin American author's take on grief and monsters?
Join us this month as we discuss Gerardo Sámano Córdova's debut "Monstrilio," a dual-perspective literary/creature horror novel exploring grief, queerness, and acceptance.
A grieving mother tries to preserve a piece of her son by cutting up a little bit of his lung and storing it in a jar. Inspired by folklore and fueled by unimaginable sadness, she feeds and nurtures the lung until it becomes a living creature.
This book club is free and open to anyone wanting to discuss stories of those who have been historically underrepresented in literature. Can't wait to come together in community soon!
Also, we're using this month as a book swap opportunity since last month’s was rained out. Have any books you want to pass along? Bring em and maybe you'll find something new to come home with <3
