A Concert for Argentina's "May Week": Argentine Classics and Modern Sounds Axel Quincke Pianist | Composer | Producer | Environmental Lawyer The Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York will host a special piano concert by Argentine pianist Axel Quincke as part of the celebrations leading up to Argentina’s National Day. Taking place during "May Week" to commemorate the 1810 May Revolution that led to Argentina's independence in 1816, the program will offer a journey through Argentina’s musical identity bringing together classical repertoire, contemporary works, and modern interpretations of iconic pieces. A special moment during the evening will mark a new chapter in the history and identity of our auditorium. Born in Buenos Aires, Quincke is a multifaceted pianist recognized for blending classical music with improvisation and genres such as jazz, tango, Argentine folklore, blues, and rock. Trained under leading mentors in Argentina and later in Vienna, he has performed across Europe and the Americas, developing a distinctive voice that bridges tradition and innovation. He trained under renowned mentors including Pia Sebastiani and Mónica Cosachov, making his debut at a young age with Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8. He later continued his studies in Vienna with Gustav Balanesco, performing throughout Europe and Latin America in venues such as Vienna’s Kaisersaal, Amsterdam FM, and New York’s Waldorf Astoria. A finalist in several chamber music competitions, Axel was also awarded the Plan Ballantine’s Award for innovation and produced an album in collaboration with Zeta Bosio (Soda Stereo). As a creator and performer, he has developed immersive music-art experiences such as Moonrise, Night Mirrors, and The Piano Man. He is also a regular presence on prestigious stages including Teatro Avenida, the Galileo Galilei Planetarium, and the Campo Argentino de Polo in Buenos Aires.
