Sew Your Own: The Final Chapter Β· August at Sew Loka Hosted by Claudia Β· Sponsored by the William Male Foundation We're closing out our summer of free workshops with two brand-new offerings β€” one upcycling class that turns a pair of old jeans into a tote bag, and a patchwork twist on the zipper pouch we taught in July. Two free workshops, four sessions across August, all made possible by the William Male Foundation. This is the final month, so if you've been meaning to come, this is the time. Adults 18+, all skill levels welcome, no experience needed. 🧡 Thursdays, 6–8:30 PM πŸ“ Sew Loka, 2113 Logan Avenue, Suite B, San Diego, CA 92113 πŸ‘₯ 15 spots per workshop Β· waitlist available πŸ’› Free, thanks to the William Male Foundation A quick heads-up on a few things: πŸ“ Waiver at check-in. We'll have a short liability waiver ready for you to sign when you arrive β€” takes about 30 seconds. Standard stuff for any workshop with sewing machines. πŸ“Έ Photos for the 'gram. We usually take photos during workshops for Sew Loka's social media. If you'd rather not be in them, just let Claudia know when you arrive β€” no problem at all. πŸ’Œ If your plans change, give us a heads-up so we can welcome someone from the waitlist into your spot! πŸ’› Workshop 2: Patchwork Zipper Pouch Dates: August 13 (Thu) Β· August 27 (Thu) Β· 6–8:30 PM 🧩 Sew Your Own: Patchwork Zipper Pouch Same beloved zipper pouch from July β€” with a patchwork twist. Instead of one continuous piece of fabric, you'll be piecing together small fabric scraps into a one-of-a-kind patchwork panel, then building your pouch from that. It's a two-for-one skill: you learn patchwork construction AND how to install a zipper without fear. Claudia will walk you through choosing and cutting your fabric scraps, arranging them into a composition you love, sewing the patchwork panel together, installing the zipper (the part everyone's afraid of β€” you won't be after this), and finishing it into a clean, lined pouch. Use it as a makeup pouch, a pencil case, a coin purse, or a catch-all for the bottom of the tote bag you made last month. You'll learn sewing machine basics, patchwork construction, how to work with zippers without fear, and how to build a lined pouch from start to finish. By the end of the workshop, you walk out with a one-of-a-kind patchwork zipper pouch made from recycled fabrics, handmade by you. Bring: just yourself. We provide everything β€” sewing machines, a huge variety of recycled fabric scraps, zippers, thread, and patient instruction. (Wear something comfortable you don't mind getting a little fabric dust on.) Note: this workshop runs a little longer than our repair workshops from June (2.5 hours instead of 2) because patchwork adds time. Plan accordingly!
