🏙 When I turned 22 last June, I was incredibly nervous of leaving college and moving to New York. Balancing adult priorities, managing time, and making new friends seemed like daunting tasks everyone was struggling with
🃏 I started to ease my nervousness by throwing small poker games every Friday with long-lost friends since this was what I was good at
🥳 Games started to be more fun and I started to meet new people. From those events, I was encouraged to attend rooftop mixers, dinners with friends, and more volleyball related activities which only increased my exposure to new people
🎲 I met someone who inspired me to create my board games club.- “The Sequoia Room” which I have fallen in love with
🏐 I met someone who encouraged me to seek more volleyball community – “The 2023 Grass Games” (grass vb on Sats @ McCarren now), which puts on so much joy for me and others every Saturday
🏗 I met a group of people who loved party planning and logistics – I call ourselves the “party planning pundits!”
🏅 I met someone who was very good at volleyball – she encourages me to be better and I learn from her like a mentor (& my passing is much improved!)
🤩 Most importantly, I’ve found a community of you all that we’ve created amazing memories over
🥺 I am incredibly grateful and lucky to have all of you in NYC with me and you have made my 22nd year a tremendously memorable and magical year for me. Let’s celebrate
