Did you know? Men have been scribing Torah since the 3rd century BCE, but it wasn’t until 2007 that a Torah was first scribed by a woman (that we know of!). Join Ali Cohen from Shalom, Dykes for a powerful evening of learning, film, and hands-on creativity with queer soferet Leana Tapnack and filmmaker Lauren Greenhall. We’ll screen the short film That’s How You Make a Torah, hear about the sacred craft of scribal arts, and try our own hands at forming Hebrew letters on real parchment. Light refreshments will be served. Registration: $54 | Subsidized rate: $36* Please pay what you’re able. All are welcome. *Special thanks to a Natan Fund grant via Shalom, Dykes! Please note: Perspectives shared by facilitators, collaborators, and attendees are their own and may not necessarily represent the views or values of Shalom, Dykes.
