LOCATION DETAILS:
Please note: this event changes location.
We begin the procession and trash pick-up at 4:30 at Mighty Park, 3025 Stafford St, Baltimore, MD 21223. We will walk along Stafford and Hurley to get to Lower Gwynns Falls Park.
5:30-6:30ish, Water-related activities will take place down near the water in Lower Gwynns Falls Park. You should see us from the Hurley St. entrance.
Enter Lower Gwynns Falls Park on Hurley Ave., close to Wilkens Ave. You will see an old rec center and we will have our picnic and tablers set up there, from 6:30-7:30.
Whatever you do, don't put Gwynns Falls Park in your GPS. That will take you to a totally separate park. Make sure to include the "Lower" at the beginning, and make sure your directions are taking you via Hurley Ave., or you will end up at some other side of the park.
There is usually some parking on Hurley, Stafford, and Strickland. Carpool if you can! :-)
*****************
This is our 5th annual Whose Earth (Day)? event. We have always held this family friendly event on the grounds of The Ivy Bookshop in North Baltimore, on Falls Road, in the Jones Falls Watershed.
Our Crossways project, a long-term collaboration with communities across 4 watersheds in Baltimore City, has the same question at its heart: “Whose Earth Is It?" So this year, we are holding our Earth Day event in the public park used by our community partners in Gwynns Falls. Join Rejjia Camphor (Sister Streamcatcher), Sanahara Ama Chandra, Michele Minnick, and members of the Gwynns Falls Community Association.
We believe that through story, movement, music and visual art, we can help galvanize a movement that seeks a deeper transformation of values, systems, and ways of being.
Tell us YOUR STORIES of water, city parks, construction and more. What watershed do you live in or grew up in? How have construction projects affected your green spaces and waterways? What futures can you dream for your part of Baltimore?
RSVP to this invite to receive meeting location information, parking instructions, and updates.
Join us on Wednesday, April 22 (Earth Day) for a gathering focused on stewardship and community care. All ages welcome!
