Felt Picnic: A Maison Chatzky Workshop!!
Join Maison Chatzky for Felt Picnic, a hands-on upcycling workshop exploring texture, storytelling, and sustainable design, presented during LA Climate Week.
Hosted at The Expo, this intimate session invites you to transform an existing garment through the art of felting. Using soft, sculptural appliqué techniques, you’ll create playful, picnic-inspired compositions, turning everyday clothing into something personal, tactile, and entirely new.
Led by Brooke and Ashley, this workshop offers a guided introduction to the fundamentals of design, hand sewing, felting, and the basics of using a sewing machine. While you are the designer of your piece, Brooke and Ashley will be there to support you through every phase, from concept to final construction.
Drawing from nostalgic picnic motifs: food, florals, and table settings, you’ll design and create a one-of-a-kind garment that feels both whimsical and considered.
What to Bring
* One garment to upcycle (tops, sweatshirts, or similar)
* Natural fibers recommended (cotton or cotton-adjacent; avoid highly stretchy fabrics)
* If you don’t have something in mind, you’re welcome to source a piece at the swap
All materials and instruction will be provided. No prior experience necessary.

In conjunction with LA Climate Week, this workshop takes place alongside a community clothing swap hosted at The Expo. Entry to the swap is one garment: please bring pieces you’d be excited to pass on and that others would be excited to find.
Vendors will be announced soon. A professional photography backdrop will also be available to capture your finished Felt Picnic pieces.
