This is a family friendly event and a safe space for community love, trust, and cultural resilience.
🗣️Open Discussion:
You do not have to be an expert to participate, your lived experience is valid here. We encourage curiosity and an open mind. Journals will be available for internal processing as well.
🎙️Open Mic:
Sign-ups available day of the event, but pre-sign ups are encouraged via RSVP Partiful questionnaire. Amount of available open mic slots TBA. 5 min max per slot. For musicians, we encourage acoustic instruments.
What to expect ❓
🗣️Our open discussion will include: Why should we care as the Filipino-diaspora?
How do we connect to PH and Fil Am histories?
What lessons can we learn from the Philippine fight for independence that still apply to Filipino American struggles today
🎙️Open mic (optional prompt for performers): Who am "I"? What’s your story? How does your art capture the theme of Know Self, Know History?
