On Thursday, 4/30, THE SPRAWL presents the OFF STAGE ZINE RELEASE SHOW + ACTIVIST FAIR at ErF Gallery, open to all ages! We will be launching our 4th zine issue, and kicking off the occasion with a local rock show, and a fair to meet local mutual aid and activist organizations in New York City ✊
Our 4th zine looks beyond the spotlight and into the everyday lives of local NYC musicians – the jobs they work, the communities they help build, and the ways they stay connected to the scene when they're not performing 💼
Rather than focusing on fame or performance, Off Stage documents the labor that sustains a band’s art: the work shift before playing a show, connections made at shows, and the DIY networks that keep the scene alive. It highlights musicians as workers, collaborators, and cultural builders – showing that the music doesn't begin or end on stage ✨
The show will feature 3 local, hard working bands: Cupids Nemesis, Hipsy Gap, and Help Wanted 🎤
We will also feature over 15+ local activist organizations to meet, share, and discuss how to get involved with your local community 🌱
Our event's aim is to make community members aware of social issues in the city and beyond, to take action that improves the world around them, and to defend our fellow neighbors, streets, and communities!
We hope to see you all on April 30th! :))
