Sowing the Branch: A Begonia Seed Workshop

Hosted by
˘◡˘
Join the newly ratified Hudson Valley Begonia Society for our first official branch meeting: a hands-on begonia seed sowing workshop. It feels fitting that our first gathering as an official branch begins with seeds. We’ll be starting something small together, with patience, care, and the hope that it grows into something lasting. In this workshop, we’ll walk through the basics of starting begonias from seed, including how to handle tiny seed, prepare containers, manage humidity, prevent contamination, label your sowings, and care for seedlings after germination. For all active American Begonia Society members, we request that you place an order of begonia seeds through the ABS Seed Fund on the ABS website before the meeting. If your seeds arrive in time, please bring them with you so we can sow together and compare varieties. If they do not arrive before the workshop, you are still very welcome to attend, learn the process, and sow them at home afterward. Beginners, curious growers, and experienced members are all welcome. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and help us mark the beginning of this branch by planting something for the future.
