We’re so excited to host the second installment of BQE’s Family Dinner series, this time in partnership with Gladys Books and Wine 🍷
Family Dinners are intimate gatherings for Black Queer Women and Lesbians to come together, share a meal, and build deeper connections. Breaking bread has always been one of the most powerful ways we nurture community and we can’t wait to continue this tradition with you.
🌹 Special Feature: “Spill! with Salsa Soul Sisters”
Fifty-one years ago in New York City, Salsa Soul Sisters: Third World Women Inc. created the first revolutionary safe space and supportive community for lesbians of color to explore and speak their truths.
Now, Salsa is back on the scene — ready to share their love, wisdom, and to pass the torch. Join members of Salsa, Black Queer Ecosystem (BQE), and Glady’s in a family-dinner-style Ask Me Anything. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to connect with our queer elders.
💃🏽Attire: Come dressed in whatever makes you feel beautiful.😍
🍽 We’ll be providing the main dish and a few sides, but we encourage everyone to bring a dish or drink to share (BYOB) if you’re able.
💌 If you’re not bringing food, we ask for a sliding scale donation of $10–$25 to help cover catering costs (the suggested amount is $25, but please contribute what feels feasible).
🚫 For safety and inclusion, please refrain from bringing dishes that contain fish or nuts.
😷Health & Safety -for the wellbeing of our community, we ask that everyone take a rapid test prior to attending.
Here are resources to find a free or low-cost rapid test near you ➡️ https://thenonbinarian.gay/ or https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/clinic-locator/ny/newyork/coronavirus-testing.html
We can’t wait to see you, share space, and celebrate this beautiful community.☺️
With love and excitement,
BQE (Black Queer Ecosystem)
