to my fellow job hunters: we're exploring some coastal history this week with a trek over old railroad paths and ww2 observation points.
it's a solid ridge climb with views of the pacific and the original roads that carved through these mountains.
📍 location: montara mountain / mcnee ranch (access via grey whale cove lot)
📍 4.7mi / 967ft gain (includes a very steep section near the tunnel fill)
⏳ estimated time: 2.5–3 hr
🌲 scenery: expect historical rail corridors, military ruins, and sweeping ridgeline vistas above the coast.
🧴 essentials: there's no shade on this one so bring plenty of water and sun protection.
🐕 pups: on-leash dogs are welcome. they've got to be friendly with people and other dogs.
🏃♀️ pace check: please be confident in your ability to maintain a steady group tempo.
catch y'all at the trail! 🕵️♂️⛰️🥾
