We’re doing a pull-up-if-you-can, sit-with-strangers, leave-with-friends dinner at Benito’s Place, a Honduran spot in Shaw that deserves way more hype than it gets. It’s immigrant-owned, the food is amazing, and they’ve been struggling with business, so we’re showing up the only way we know how: hungry, friendly, and tipping well. This is a low-commitment, high-reward hang a little bit different from our usual dinners. Come solo (honestly encouraged), grab a seat at a table, introduce yourself to someone new, and see where the night goes. Come for 20 minutes or stay for two hours. Order whatever you want, whenever you want. Very cheap, very casual. Never been to an event before? Perfect. This is an ideal first one. No inside jokes to catch up on, no awkward icebreakers, no pressure to know anyone already, just food and people who also showed up hoping to make friends. Food highlights if you need a nudge: Baleadas (iconic, comforting, correct) Pupusas (always the move - order extra curtido) Tacos Fritos Hondurenos (fried tacos, need I say more?) Chips & Guacamole (for the table or yourself) Think: cheap delicious food (almost everything is <$20), easy conversation, supporting local, and a much more relaxed version of our usual supper club meetups. Less structure, more mingling, zero pressure to be interesting (you will be anyway). If you want to make friends but don’t want it to feel like networking or dating or emotional labor… this is the one. TL;DR - Pull up. Eat good. Meet people. Support local. 💅🏽🍽️
