Our next Art Build night is Tuesday, September 22 at 7pm. We’ll be building the Heart sculpture base from wood and other upcycled materials, to prepare for the paper mache party on Thursday! HeARTifact: Our materials wish list for the pulsing Heart Stage Art sculpture are LED lighting (strips or otherwise), lots of acrylic paint (blues, greens, purples, gold, black, pink), brushes, chicken wire. We'll be using a flour/water paste for the paper mache portion. Want to program the Heart lighting to do cool things? We'd love your help! Eco-Arc: Our sovereign tech partners at Lab 484 have been developing a series of immersive art installations exploring Solarpunk cultural themes in action. Want to help? Take a look at our materials wish list linked here and keep an eye out for us, or come by one of our Community Build nights over the next two weeks to lend a hand. We're especially seeking the temporary loan of native plants, as well as landfill e-waste to demonstrate products without the right to repair. Your ideas and your hands can help shape this year’s world. One of our central builds is a large, three-dimensional anatomical heart that will pulse and glow above the Solarpunk Summit stage. Come help us transform it into a luminous Love Dimension ARTifact. No building or artistic experience is necessary. Bring your skills, your imagination, your willingness to learn, or simply an extra set of hands. Your donated time and energy counts towards a discounted or zero cost ticket. Community build nights will continue every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 PM leading up to the Summit. We’re also seeking loans & donations of these items for the Summit: • Water fountains for the Water Temple • Non-flame fire decorations, flicker lamps, flame effects, and art for the Fire Temple • Long draping fabrics in blue, teal, purple, gold, silver, or iridescent colors for the Main Stage • Potted and hanging plants for the Earth Temple • Wind chimes and fluttering materials for the Air Temple • Books for the Homeostasis Hub community lending library • Mycelium art, sculptures, tapestries, and lanterns for the Homeostasis Hub • Rugs, pillows, cushions, and other soft, squishy things for the Homeostasis Hub Bring what you have, help build what you can, and come be part of creating the world we want to gather inside.
