Ring your packed lunch!
A bike, breathable biking clothes, sun protection, towel for dipping
My dad taught me how to bike. I remember him holding onto my seat while I struggled to pedal and stay upright. I wasn't an athletic child and I hated the sensation of falling. I remember begging him to hold on seconds before hearing him proudly cheer "You got it, Wes! You're doing it, you're doing it!"
This Juneteenth-Father's Day outing is a tribute to Black fathers. Strong, passionate, fallible, proud. Let's ride together and share stories to honor the elders in our lives.
A 11mi bike ride along paved trail and road with a midway lunch break at Seward Park. Start and end at the Northwest African American Museum.
The bike ride will be at a casual "no-drop" pace where the slowest rider isn't left behind. Ride includes 1 gradual hill and 1 short, steep hill about half a block long (both on the return journey) - the rest of the ride is flat or descending.
Lake Washington Blvd will be closed to car traffic so there will be little to no interaction with cars.
Minors above the age of 10 are welcome to join with adult accompaniment.
