On Saturday March 8th, we'll be wandering the western waterfronts of Queens, from the winding Newtown Creek Nature Walk to Astoria Park, ultimately settling for dinner and conversation at Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden. Our starting point will be For the Record cafe in Greenpoint (https://maps.app.goo.gl/8HYujhzkeNtfb7hv7). "Hyggehiking" is my own special blend, where we engage in that conviviality while trekking through green spaces throughout our city. I host Hygge gatherings so we can come together to make new friends, discuss fun projects we're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. We bring our friends, family, coworkers, anyone we think would enjoy spending the day alongside a variety of curious souls. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🗺️ ITINERARY 🗺️ 10am-11am — Newtown Creek Nature Walk, Newtown Barge Playground, For The Record cafe ✨ We'll start with an appreciation stroll along north Brooklyn so we can catch some early glimpses of Queens' southern waterfronts. 11am-12:30pm — Pulaski Bridge, Malt Drive Park, Luminescence, Hunter's Point South Park, food trucks ✨ We'll enjoy our first several parks of the Queens southern waterfront, then grab lunch at the strip of food trucks along Center Blvd. 12:30pm-1:30pm — Queens Public Library at Hunters Point, Gantry Plaza State Park, Culture Lab LIC ✨We'll ascend to the rooftop hangout of the Queens Public Library, then make our way over to Culture Lab LIC to see what art they have on display. 1:30pm-2:30pm — Queensbridge Park, Rainey Park, Socrates Sculpture Park, Hallett's Cove Beach, Château le Woof ✨We'll explore the sculptures, bridges, and beaches of Astoria and duck into a doggy themed cafe for refueling. 2:30pm-3:30pm — Whitey Ford Field, Astoria Park ✨ The swimming pool in Astoria Park is the largest in New York City. It was built in 1936, designated a landmark in 2006, then left to disrepair for years, though it's now being converted into an event venue by NYC Parks! 3:30pm-6pm — Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden ✨Bohemian Hall is one of NYC's best hidden gems. It's got a huge swath of indoor and outdoor seating, live music, food, drinks, events, and space for board games.
