Introducing Queer Out Here's 2026 Monthly Nature Walk Series! We will be kicking off our season with a short (2.0 mile) loop on the New Germany Turnpike Trail/Hemlock Trail at New Germany State Park in Grantsville, MD. Meetup location will be the parking lot for the New Germany Turnpike and Hemlock Trail heads on the AllTrails app. Additional trails are accessible at this location, and carpooling is strongly recommended. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maryland/new-germany-turnpike-trail-and-hemlock-trail (GPS location: 39.63233°N, 79.12250°W). PLEASE RSVP and COME PREPARED with proper footwear/clothing for weather, water, snacks, etc. for our walk. Meetup time at the trail head is 10AM, LEAVING PROMPTLY AT 10:15AM. Please LET US KNOW YOU WILL MAKE IT and ARRIVE ON TIME so you are not left behind. Contact Mack @ 719-208-6593 to communicate updates on your RSVP/arrival on the day of the hike. Weather updates and hike cancellation will be announced Saturday (4/11) prior to the hike, should weather force us to cancel. A first aid kit will be provided, and dogs are allowed in the park if leashed. If you wish to bring your pet along for the walk, please let us know here so we can all be prepared and coordinate doggy meetups and greetings at the trail head. Stay tuned for an updated hiking series schedule (one 2-5 mile hike planned for the first Sunday per month, w/ weather backup dates on the following weekends) we will be walking this season from April to early October!
