The Better Club: Portrait Night!
The Better Club is a creative mental health community based in Brooklyn. Portrait Night (our first event!) is 2.5 hours of low-stakes cutting, pasting, and creating. Also drinks and snacks.
If you see yourself as a pile of sequins, paint, and magazine scraps (or something similar), come to Portrait Night. It'll be a night of low-pressure portrait making where you can be as abstract as you want. See yourself as a yellow blob? Amazing. Think your friend is a collage made of ribbons? Gorgeous. There are no rules. Just glue, tape, and endless art supplies. Sketchbooks provided, plus magazines and collage cutouts, fabric scraps, pastels, colored pencils, watercolor paint, beads, and sequins, but bring anything that feels like you or that you’d love to work with. Drinks and food on us if you RSVP.
The venue is McCarren Parkhouse, located at the far end of McCarren Park. There is a full bar and burger restaurant inside. Located off the Nassau Ave G and roughly 10 minutes from the Bedford Ave L.
