Join tea educator Tim Chacko for an evening exploring the history, culture, and preparation of chai through masala chai-inspired herbal teas, featuring Tim's own selection of South Indian spices paired with fresh herbs foraged from McCarren Demo Garden. We'll start by foraging herbs together in the garden, then Tim will guide us through a sensory tasting of masala tisanes. Along the way, you’ll hear the story of tea in South Asia, experience different spices, and learn how to bring the tradition of chai into your own life. You'll also craft your own blend and pack it into personal tea bags to take home!
