Re_Grocery + The Echo Park Trash Club are organizing a cleanup in Pasadena and Altadena this Sunday, January 19th starting at 10 AM and we would be so grateful for your support to help our city recover from these devastating wildfires. We are endlessly thankful to Baller Hardware + The New California Barbershop for sponsoring our event and providing necessary tools and protective gear.
The following is based on volunteering with other cleanup crews the past weekend and a conversation with our contact at Pasadena Public Works:
Cleanup has comprised of compartmentalizing branches, leaves and tree limbs from front yards, sidewalks and curbs into piles on street parking spaces and out of the way of moving vehicles.
It's been recommended to NOT use yard waste bags as this creates an extra step for the City. We'll do our best to separate out any trash or recyclables from organics piles.
The City of Pasadena and Los Angeles are anticipating the cleanup to take up to 6-8 weeks to remove all the fallen foliage from the area.
We’re going to focus on areas with schools, parks, community centers, retirement communities, etc - ideally anywhere that people gather.
