Colleena Hake will be teaching a workshop called "Experimental Chromesthesia" in both American Sign Language and verbal English. She is curious about how senses can be enhanced in new ways, like hearing color or visualizing touch. Using dry-erase boards & sharpies provided, participants will be asked to translate birdsong, tree textures, etc. into art. Colleena founded La Matadora Gallery in 2017 in Joshua Tree, and previously owned a gallery in Tucson, AZ for 3 years. She studied art history in London, and wrote her Master's thesis on Catharsis in Performance Art. One of her hidden talents is reading music and playing piano; her favorite is Beethoven, with whom she shares the same birthday and quality of deafness. She recently self-published another book of her cabin blessings + poems called "Firehorse Beneditos."
