ツThink Moth Theater meets a Jeffersonian Dinner!
Every night we’ll gather a small group of fintech and DeFi founders and VCs around a table for a delicious meal and a single, shared conversation about the topic of the night.
It's an opportunity to meet each other without having to pitch or make small talk. See the real people behind the business.
The dinner series will take place over three nights in the middle of the NYCTechWeek. We will invite only 15 people each night.
The themes are:
Tue, June 2 - "Risk"
Wed, June 3 - "Conviction"
Thurs, June 4 - "Incentive"
We picked the themes around finance, but they can be interpreted broadly. What was the riskiest thing you've ever done? What unexpected incentives are you creating with your kids? When was a particular conviction of yours tested? Share your nugget of experience with us.
Bring one to three short stories connected to the theme of the night to share.
Why one to three? Think one to share, two in the pocket.
Usually, when you start thinking of one, a few more pop up and we don’t want them to go to waste:
One to Share: Pick your favorite story. The one you’re most excited to tell. You'll share this one first.
Two in the Pocket: Have two more ready just in case. If we move fast and there’s more time to share, we’ll invite popcorn-style sharing.
There is no specific format or expectation in length (try to keep it under 5 minutes, be mindful of people’s attention spans).
It can be a written-out essay, a poem, a toast, or a story that you improvise on the spot, or even someone else's writing as long as you give the author credit.
If you decide to improvise, maybe try to at least have an idea of which story you’re telling and have a couple of bullet points in mind.
The goal isn't a perfect performance; it's about sharing something real. Something that you feel deeply.
The Flow of the night:
6:30 PM: Arrive, grab a drink, and meet some fellow storytellers.
7:30 PM: We’ll sit down for dinner and stories. (We take a small break in the middle.)
9:00 PM: We wrap the stories up.
9:30 PM: Good night!
