Our September East Bay Permaculture Guild gathering is a community potluck, connection night, and open invitation to help shape what comes next. Bring a dish if you can, please label allergens, and bring your own reusable plate/cup/utensils if possible. We’ll have backups. After dinner, we’ll share announcements, needs, offers, upcoming events, and make room for conversation, project networking, and whatever topics emerge from the people in the room. This month's topic: Water. Ahead of what is predicted to be a very wet winter with a Super El Nino system coming through, we will be hosting a few presenters to talk about their work around rainwater catchment and watershed awareness. Our Presenters: Ethan Hirsch-Tauber - Ethan is the owner of The Water Folk, a Sonoma based company which designs and installs greywater and rainwater catchment systems. In addition to local work Ethan has done projects abroad around water conservation. Elizabeth Dougherty - Elizabeth is the Executive Director of Wholly H2O, a bay area non-profit that educates, inspires stewardship, addresses historical inequalities, and provides practical environmental solutions in San Francisco East Bay watersheds. She will be speaking on some of the tours offered of various creek watersheds focusing on the history of people of color. as well as a green stormwater infrastructure project in Fruitvale, capturing stormwater in tanks and bio swells and working to create a one-block green street. Phil will be presenting on local Adopt-a-Drain programs and how to sign up and steward storm drains in your neighborhood. Monday, September 14 6:00–8:30pm Oakland Peace Center — Grace Room, downstairs 111 Fairmount Ave., Oakland Free to attend; donations welcome to support the Guild’s gatherings and projects. Want to help? We always need setup, welcoming, dish/cleanup, documentation, garden, outreach, and facilitation support. Reach out in advance or introduce yourself when you arrive.
