Coffee & Cockroaches: A morning of RNA biopesticide tech, cockroach racing, stick pics, and startup conversations hosted by Yeast Bay Bio and California Innovation Fund. Want to go viral with your picture with a stick bug? Come on over. Want to cheer for your favorite cockroach in our world famous cockroach races? Come on over. Want to just talk to amazing individuals doing amazing things? Come on over. Background: The world dumps more than four million tons of pesticides into the environment every year. That is about eleven Empire State Buildings worth, and almost all of it kills indiscriminately. Yeast Bay Bio is brewing an alternative out of regular ol' yeast. Species specific, non-toxic, and it works! We kill the pest but not the rest. Our co-sponsor Cal Innovation Fund is bringing the rest of their portfolio along. Driving innovation and making an impact? That's our game. Biome, CPTI, Your360AI, Editpep, oh my! Saving lives, making the world cleaner and greener, and making people happier and healthier - all great goals and all achievable. So come hear how RNAi biopesticides work, drink a coffee, meet amazing people, eat a pastry, watch and bet on cockroach races and pose with a walking stick. We believe we can make the world a better place and be weird while doing it. This is the way. #SFTechWeek This event is a part of #[San Francisco]TechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.
