Grab your gloves β it's time to get our hands dirty! π±
The East Bay Permaculture Guild is partnering with the Oakland Peace Center for a community garden work day during Climate Week 2026. This is the jump-start of a long-term edible + medicinal community garden project that will share fresh food with OPC neighbors, Wood St. Commons, and building organizations serving unhoused community members.
On the agenda:
π Move 4 bathtubs into the garden and set them up to be planters
πͺ± Nourish the garden with compost
π± Plant starts donated by community members
πΏ Clear bougainvillea + prep the parking lot bed (best sun on the site!)
πͺ£ Assess water/irrigation setup
π± Snacks and lunch provided β must RSVP here: https://events.californiavolunteers.ca.gov/opportunities/fChx2VcF3S
Whether you're an experienced gardener or a total beginner, we need you! Come for an hour or stay the whole day.
We're aiming for ~20 volunteers and need 5β6 experienced gardeners/project leads to help manage work teams.

RSVP so we can plan tools + food.
This garden is rooted in a 2.5-year vision: an edible, medicinal, community-tended space for all who call OPC home.
