Utopocalpyse #5: Nature // Shakespeare

Hosted by
˜▾˜
WHAT IS THE NATURE OF NATURE? "Thou, Nature, art my goddess; to thy law my services are bound..." ...So speaks Edmund, the infamous brigand of Shakespeare's "King Lear". But what does he mean? What _is_ natural, anyway? Join us to dive into the consistencies and contradictions of Lear and his courtesans, with an ear tilted toward Nature's roar. Along the way we're likely to find cascading thunderclaps of inversion: a son's treachery to his father, the wrath of a king upon the honest, searing wisdom from a Fool (and much more). “Utopocalypse 5: Shakespeare // Nature” is an evening to ponder Nature by way of the Bard’s “King Lear” (Act I), a tale of intrigue, free will, rivalry, love, and really, really bad weather. We'll home in on Act I. ~~ Note! Instead of sending the text around like we've done for our previous events in this series, we recommend watching it instead (we like this version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc46-Z9Lj6U, from 00:00 to 47:11). In any case, be ready to discuss Act I! ~~ We'll have an evening of lively discussion, libations, debate, and readings aloud as continue our salon series: How to Survive the Coming AI Utopocalypse[0]. This event is *free* for Tillage members, $35 for non-members.
