Article: What really happens to unwanted clothes?

Right after fashion week and right before NYC climate week, clear your closet of stuff you no longer wear and come swap clothes with your neighbors! Give someone a new favorite fall piece and maybe come find yours! The rules are simple. 1) NO BUYING! Either swap or freely give away your clothes, accessories, bags, hats, shoes, jewelry, etc. 2) Only bring items you love or once loved that maybe don’t fit your body or your style anymore!! Please do not bring anything that you wouldn’t give to your bestie (no crazy stains, unrepairable tears, etc.) 3) Be nice!!!:) strike up a convo, ask someone if they’d want to look at your stuff for a trade. Respect if someone doesn’t want to trade! (And don’t take it personal if they don’t- everyone has different style!) If you don’t end up trading away all your stuff you no longer want, we will take any clothes you want to donate and bring them to Big Reuse (an amazing environmental non-profit thrift warehouse in Gowanus and Bushwick).
