A real update, and a small ask for patience. 🙏 Most importantly: you’re all awesome. You signed up to a stranger’s event to make a friend. You put yourself out there to meet people you don’t know, which is hard, and you did it anyway. So I just want to say thank you. That took guts, and I’m not going to let that go to waste. I’m not letting this die because of paperwork. Ok so here's the situation: When I made this event, it was 20 people and a blanket. It is now 505 of you, plus a waitlist, which is genuinely insane and also one of the nicest things that’s happened since I moved here. The issue is pretty simple: a gathering this size needs a permit, and I obviously did not have one because there was nothing to permit when this started. So instead of having several hundred people accidentally descend on a public park, I went to SF Rec and Park and told them exactly what happened. They’ve been very reasonable, and they’re helping me figure out what needs to change so we can actually do this without getting shut down halfway through the picnic. For now, September 12 is on hold while I sort out a new date and location. This is still happening in September or October. I’m working on it every day, emailing the mayor’s office, calling venues, talking to parks, all of it, and I’ll update this page the second I have something locked. If any of you have any connections, give me a holler. So please keep your RSVP, keep notifications on, and bear with me while I get the logistics right. We ARE having this picnic. --- I'm still new to the Bay, and this is still the most extroverted thing an introvert can dream up: inviting a pile of strangers to come sit in the grass with me. My social battery is finite. My love of people, picnics, and the specific magic of introducing two people who end up becoming real friends is not. Bring your own picnic setup: a blanket, drinks, snacks, whatever makes sitting in the grass feel a little luxurious. I'll either be the redhead having a solo picnic reading something objectively terrible on Kindle Unlimited, or the redhead surrounded by people looking a little overwhelmed because this happened again. Athena, my dog, will be there too, asking you to throw her ball or slip her a snack. She has no shame about it. Either way, come say hi.
