After 15 years of cultivating community, creativity, and resilience at 64th Street in North Oakland, PLACE is saying goodbye to its longtime home at the end of February 2026. This farewell gathering is a chance to honor everything that has been grown, learned, and shared there, and to support PLACE in its next chapter.
PLACE has been a living model of housing justice, ecological sustainability, and community arts—especially in the last several years, when it has prioritized creating safer, affirming space for QTBIPOC communities rooted in care, visibility, and belonging. Even though the physical location is closing, the organization is actively exploring partnerships and new homes so that the values, relationships, and practices incubated at PLACE can continue in new forms.
Doors open at 1p, At 1:30p we will start with opening shares, following by history, individual then community shares.
At this gathering, we will:
* Celebrate the many workshops, performances, gardens, mutual aid efforts, art builds, and everyday acts of creativity and care that have flowed through PLACE.
* Honor the founders, stewards, residents, collaborators, and neighbors who made PLACE a hub where art meets resilience, ecology meets justice, and people meet possibility.
* Share updates about PLACE’s transition and invite support for moving, storage, and future site possibilities.
