Poetry + Prose + Drama • Writing strategies for those new to independent and self-produced audio storytelling.
Want to release an album of poems on Bandcamp? Read your novel on Patreon? Produce your play as an audio drama podcast? How can these forms and sound design shape the written word?
This workshop focuses on writing, not production or technical skills.
Please bring short samples of your work— poetry, prose, and/or scripted drama. We will be writing and reading during the workshop.
This workshop honors the labor and craft of writers and respects human creativity. Therefore, generative ai will not be used.
Writing With Audio is facilitated by William J. Meyer. William’s audio storytelling began with his experience in science fiction broadcast radio drama, developed through an award-winning epic-fantasy podcast novel, and continues in single-voice audio fiction and multi-cast dramas.
His independent audio work has been chosen as a Platinum Selection of the HEAR Now Festival, a Showcase Selection of the PodTales Festival, Co-Winner of the Audio Verse Awards' Writing of a New Spoken Word Production, Geekie Awards Best Narrative Audio Series, and awarded Best Speculative Fiction Story (Long Form) from the Parsec Awards.
He’s from Wisconsin but now lives in Los Angeles. He misses the snow but not the cold. You can find his stories on his website: www.byWilliamJMeyer.com
