Los Feliz Writers Fest 2026: Sensory Portal: Writing Through Taste & Scent
Sensory Portal is an immersive creative writing workshop that invites participants to explore taste and scent as unexpected catalysts for creative inspiration. Through a curated series of flavors and aromas, writers will discover how sensory experiences can evoke atmosphere, emotion, character, place, memory, and vivid inner worlds. Rather than following a traditional writing prompt, participants are invited to notice and explore whatever comes up through each tasting experience.
This workshop involves eating. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please note them on the questionnaire.
Sensory Portal is facilitated by Tayi Sanusi.
Tayi Sanusi is a writer and food stylist whose work explores food as one of our oldest forms of storytelling and a language through which we remember and connect. She holds a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch and later worked as a journalist and food video producer in Berlin, documenting global culinary traditions and the histories behind them.
Her work spans the editorial and culinary worlds, from major brands to neighborhood pop-ups. She is currently based in Los Feliz.
