My name is Ocean and Hans Zimmer's Interstellar score has wrecked me in the best way more times than I can count. That organ. The ticking. The silence right after the launch. I've wanted to dance all the way through it for years, so I built a night that does exactly that: three waves, one hour each, no breaks. Wave one is Earth. Dust, wind, quiet piano and organ, slow and wide. The last evening before leaving. Wave two is the crossing. Launch, the wormhole, the water planet. Pulses and clocks, deeper bass, the floor starting to move as one thing. Wave three is the far side. The black hole. Dark techno and heavy bass at full intensity, in silence, one peak, and then the long fall home in the last ten minutes. Then stillness. This is an ecstatic dance. No talking on the floor, no phones, no alcohol, consent always. Barefoot. Water. Leave the floor to talk. Dress for deep space if you want to; a lot of us will. Fri Oct 16 at Austin Ecstatic Dance Center, 10203 Old Manchaca Rd. Park in back, off Allred Dr, and come in through the blue door. Doors 6:45. Opening circle at 7. Three waves 7:15 to 10:15. Stay as long as you like and come back to the floor when it calls you. Listening is part of the dance.
