EBPG May Potluck: Resilience Hubs & Permaculture

It's the second Monday — you know what that means! 🌿 This month, you will... 💡 LEARN about resilience hubs and how permaculture can be a defining feature. 🗣️ SHARE your ideas about how the Oakland Peace Center can become a resilience hub. 🏘️ ACTIVATE your own community space and neighborhood as a resilience hub.** Guest speaker: Susan Silber from Collective Resilience (and a member of the Guild leadership team). Many thanks to Ava Community Energy for co-sponsoring this workshop; they will be sharing details about some of their progams, including their exciting $2500 community sponsorship grants program. ** What is a resilience hub?? Many cities around the country are moving beyond traditional "emergency response" to build decentralized networks of community spaces serving as resilience hubs (also called “community resilience centers”) - libraries, community centers, places of worship and other trusted sites in our community transformed to both build social cohesion and prepare and respond to disasters. They are centered on equity, sustainability, and deep relationship building with the goal that support is always within a "15-minute walking radius" of those who need it most. Come early (5:30!) to physically walk the Oakland Peace Center garden and see some of the amazing progress we have been making! Sunset is around 7:45pm this time of year so we'll have light! 🍲 Bring a dish to share and label allergens 💚 Donations welcome — all-volunteer org! RSVP so we can plan for food (link above!) East Bay Permaculture Guild meets the 2nd Monday of every month at the Oakland Peace Center. RSVP here + share widely. Questions? Comment this event or email ebpermieguild@proton.me
