This month in honor of Hispanic Heritage month we’re reading Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel García Márquez.
Chronicle of a Death Foretold recounts the murder of Santiago Nasar, a killing the entire town saw coming and no one stopped. Márquez unspools the story in reverse, piecing together how honor, rumor, and collective silence made a death everyone foresaw feel inevitable.
We’ll also be collecting donations to support disaster relief in Colombia. This month at Dale Zine you can drop off things like new tents, tarps, sleeping bags and blankets, hygiene supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo, deodorant), and first aid kits. Food, pet supplies, and baby supplies are also being accepted. Bring what you can.
Flow for the afternoon:
∙ 4:00–4:30 — Arrival, getting settled, free flowing conversation
∙ 4:30–5:15 — Guided group discussion
∙ 5:15–6:00 — Open discussion, mingling, and free flowing conversation
The book club is and will always be free. We’re offering a pay what you can option for anyone who feels moved to contribute. Every donation goes directly toward building more intentional gatherings for this community.
We document these gatherings in photo and video, some of it becomes content. By attending, you’re okay with appearing in that work. If you’d rather stay out of frame, just tell us at the door.RSVP Here
